United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women of Eastport UMC are busy and productive, active in mission and ministries.  They meet the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. for a Brown Bag Dinner, and it's always a lively evening.  Meetings sometimes feature guest speakers.  Their projects are vital to the support of our church and its mission.  They are actively involved in:

  • We Care – meals provided for EUMC members who are ill or recovering from surgery.
  • Transportation – rides for members to medical appointments.
  • Bereavement Luncheons – luncheons catered for families of EUMC members.
  • Winter Relief Homeless Shelter Meals.
  • Mother-Child Luncheon.
  • Annual UMW Tea
  • Christmas Gift Bags – provided to residents of Timothy House.
  • Candy Bags – West River Deaf and Blind Camp.
  • Heifer International Project – an all-congregation project.
  • Paso a Paso Project in Guatemala
UMW makes monetary donations to EUMC's Vacation Bible School and Building Fund, Volunteers in Mission, and numerous other mission projects.  Fund-raisers for these ministries and missions include soup sales, corsage sales, and the Annual UMW Tea.  The Tea takes place on a Sunday afternoon each May and is always a sellout.

All women of the church are invited and encouraged to attend our meetings.  Bring your brown bag dinner – dessert and beverages are provided.  Join us!

The monies we make from our fundraiser events enable us to make donations to the Susanna Wesley House, EUMC Building Fund, and the EUMC budget. We have assembled and sent birthing kits to Haiti; filled buckets with cleaning supplies for victims of the flood in Tennessee; and sent a donation to Paso a Paso to assist a village in Guatemala in obtaining wells and to pay for six children to go to school.  *Be sure to visit their web site, www.pasoapasomissions.org and learn about the children the UMW has helped through donations.
