Homework & Reading Program

HOMEWORK GROUP MAKING VALENTINES
During the school year, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. we welcome children of all ages from nearby communities to receive homework and reading  assistance.  Thanks to generous volunteers, our children’s library has grown and each child is rewarded with a certificate of accomplishment as a certain number of books are completed.

Sessions include a half hour of homework assistance and a half hour of reading, followed by snacks and outside play if daylight and weather permit.

Children participating in this program are able to take advantage of some special events at the Naval Academy and other venues in the Annapolis area.  They are treated to a Christmas party and often participate in other activities of the church, including the Annual Pumpkin Carving in Fellowship Hall.

During summer vacation time, they meet only on Tuesdays and spend their time working on reading skills, playing games of all kinds, followed by the usual snack and outside play time.

Karen Clarke heads up this ministry.  She is always looking for tutors – no special training required.  Teenagers helping with this group can count this toward their community service obligations.  Contact the church office at 410-263-5490.
