Eastport United Methodist has a vital need for a Coordinator of Family Ministries and we seek to provide the best in Christian formation.
The Coordinator of Family Ministries collaborates with the congregation to develop programming and activities that provide good soil in which children and families can grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. The Coordinator will be a bridge between the church and the surrounding community. This Coordinator will work with whole families of every shape and size, and not just children and youth. As a result of this person’s work, children and youth in both the congregation and community will grow in faith as disciples of Jesus Christ.
The coordinator is supervised by the Pastor, and accountable to the Staff Parish Relations Committee of EUMC.
Alongside the Pastor, envision and implement Christian formation and fellowship opportunities for children and families.
Enlist, coordinate, and train volunteers to teach in Christian formation opportunities such as Sunday School and Small Groups. Work with the pastor and other leaders to implement curriculum appropriate for our context.
Serve as a connection for students or volunteering through existing community organizations
Communicate with organizations, people, and resources in the community that relate to children and youth and compile a list of resources currently available for youth and young people in Eastport/Annapolis
Assist current EUMC programs for children/youth in the community: Homework and Reading, Gardening
Help coordinate and lead discipleship and mission opportunities for children and youth in the congregation: confirmation, care of creation camp, worship leadership, mission/service opportunities, and discipleship retreats.
Address the strengths and needs of children and youth in Eastport in addition to the strengths and needs of the children and youth within the congregation.
A vibrant, committed relationship to Jesus Christ and a servant's heart. This person should demonstrate a passion for the children and youth of the community, a basic knowledge of youth development, and a willingness to grow in their own discipleship. Also, a candidate with solid Biblical knowledge, who is loving, personable, and has some administrative skills. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial. They should also demonstrate the ability to utilize social media and support youth in their activities. The coordinator should demonstrate reliability, the ability to organize and conduct work independently, good communication and organizational skills.
Church/Youth Ministry: min 1 year (Preferred)
Bachelor's (Preferred or in process)
Job Type: Part-time 20 hrs/week Salary: dependent upon qualifications and experience
