Lent and Holy Week
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on February 26, and we will have two different opportunities to gather for worship.
At noon we will a simple service of song and prayer that includes the imposition of Ashes, reminding us of our need for grace and the One who gives us new life.
At 6 pm we will gather with other United Methodist Churches at Calvary United Methodist for a time of dinner, prayer, and worship. All are encouraged to attend this service.
These Holy Days
This Lenten resource is provided as a guide to help persons deepen their understanding of God's mighty acts of liberation, salvation, redemption.
Each Sunday we gather and review select themes in scripture that help us prepare for Easter. This time also features two different times you can gather on a regular basis.
Each Wednesday at noon we gather in the chapel for a simple service of prayer, song, scripture, and Holy Communion.
Each Wednesday at 6 pm during Lent we gather for dinner, prayer, and worship with other United Methodist Churches. Check back here form more information.
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday (April 5,10 am) - We lift palms in joyous celebration as Jesus enters Jerusalem humbly on the back of a donkey. We cry out, “Hosanna in the highest heaven.” We are present with the crowd that witnesses the spectacle. We lift our voices in praise. But then we bear witness to Jesus’ trial and crucifixion, and as the crowd, we condemn him. This reading prepares us to hear the good news of the Resurrection on Easter.
Before we approach Easter Sunday, we'll gather for Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday (April 9, 7 pm) to remember that Jesus commands us to love one another as he loves us.
Our Good Friday Service will be Friday, April 10, from 12-3 at Asbury United Methodist Church on West St. in Downtown Annapolis.
