Hymn – 57 O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
Charles Wesley wrote this hymn on the first anniversary of his conversion. The original text had 18 verses! Several scholars have stated that the opening line of the hymn was inspired by Charles’ spiritual mentor, Peter Bohler who said, “Had I a thousand tongues, I would praise him with them all!” Perhaps, it begs the question, who is getting most of our praise?
Prayer: Lord God, fix our joy on you that we might see your grace more clearly, not just in ourselves but in all your creation. Amen.
