Welcome!

For everyone born, a place at the table!

When we say everyone is welcome, we do mean everyone. Eastport United Methodist is the church home to people from all walks of life: single, divorced, widowed, married, people of various sexual orientations and gender identities. We invite all people to be in Christ's ministry.

Our church’s Administrative Council was terribly dismayed by the actions of our broader denomination in 2019. The legislation that increases penalties and prohibitions for lesbians, gay, bisexual, and trans people in ministry does not reflect the feelings of our church membership and leadership.

We are now on a path of discernment to becoming a “Reconciling” congregation. We are working with Reconciling Ministries Network to commit to actively welcome and affirm people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

While Eastport United Methodist is (without a doubt) a loving congregation, our hope is to clarify the fullness and depth of our welcome

and invitation to the full life and ministry of the church. If you have other questions about our welcome or the reconciling process, please contact Pastor Chris or Administrative Council Chairperson Jill Peddicord.
