Advent Devotional - Dec. 8

This African American spiritual is of unknown origin. The lyrics are hyperbolic. Of course, the sister, brother, mother, father, preacher, deacon…all people need prayer. It is quite simply a statement and a prayer – I need prayer. I need the presence of God’s blessings.

Prayer: O God, fill us with your presence, your hope, now and always. Grant us the willingness to continually ask for what we need and what others need knowing that you are attentive, and you are listening. Amen.
