Note from Pastor Chris

Beloved of Eastport United Methodist Church,

Thank you so much for joining in worship last Sunday! I know that this is a strange season we are in, but to have over 105 people check-in for worship and nearly 120 views of the video on YouTube is quite encouraging. Even while we are scattered into our homes on Sunday morning, God gathers us together as beloved children (Jesus would say, "like a mother hen who gathers her chicks under her wings").

I hope that you are able to make space in your Sunday morning for time with your church community at eastportumc.org/worship-online. This will be our regular practice for some time, at least until May 3, 2020 (per Bishop and CDC).

That being the case, I hope you will make yourself comfortable with:

A few of you have used the online giving portal for your weekly offering and a number of you have dropped off or mailed your offering this past week. I am so very grateful. Your gifts to God sustain the work and ministry of this church, especially as we care for those in our community in this trying time.

Our Finance Team and Trustees have met over the past two weeks over an internet and phone-app based program called "Zoom." I will introduce you to this program in an email next week. It'll provide us with an opportunity to gather virtually and see one another's faces. It may prove to be a great alternative to coffee-hour after worship!

In preparation for worship on Sunday morning, I hope you will locate a candle or prepare a small bowl of water, so that we may together, create a sacred space before worship. The bulletin and scripture readings for Sunday are attached to this email.

Finally, if you have a story that you’d like to share for the April Spire, something uplifting or funny, please send it to Pastor Chris or Eunice Corse (corseec@msn.com).

Grace and peace!
