Sung in Worship: See the Day

This morning we heard Tracy Alexander and Pastor Chris sing a song called "See the Day” and it speaks about the desire for justice, love, and unity. It conveys a message of hope for a better world where oppression is eliminated and people stand together in love and solidarity. The lyrics express a longing for a day when justice and love prevail, and call upon a higher power to guide and lead us towards that vision.

I wanna see the day when justice rolls

Like a mighty river floods out of control

May that day be today when together we say

Let justice, let justice roll

Let justice roll

I wanna see the day when love shakes the ground

And the walls that separate come tumbling down

May that day be today when together we say

Let love, love shake the ground

Love shake the ground

I wanna see the day when we stand tall

And the heavy hand of oppression's finally gone

May that day be today when together we say

Precious Lord, come lead us on

Here are a few biblical references in the song:

1. "Let justice roll like a mighty river": This line may be a reference to Amos 5:24, which says, "But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!"

2. "Precious Lord, come lead us on": This line could be a reference to Psalm 23:3, which says, "He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake."

3. The overall theme of justice, love, and unity aligns with various teachings found throughout the Bible, including verses about seeking justice, loving one another, and standing against oppression (something we commit to in our baptismal promises).
